How Did This Bottle Show Up: Picked it up at Lush Wine Bar.

Color: Pretty Light Red for a Zin

Thoughts:

Right off the bat you can smell what you'd expect from a zin, there is a little bit of a fruity aroma but nothing crazy. The wine seems to be a lighter medium bodied wine. If your not into lighter wines don't worry, the taste pushes this wine into the medium bodied wine category with no issues. Another positive is there is no alcohol smell. The tannins seem pretty mellow at this point so it doesn't dry your tongue out as you sip.

With the first sip, it displays a pretty smooth flavor as it hits the tongue and moves toward the back of your mouth. The finish is decently smooth, there's a small bite at the end but it quickly dies off. There's no aftertaste but something I enjoyed about this wine is that the finish didn't linger but it also didn't just disappear like so many wines tend to do. It's a very well balanced wine all the way through.

Overall I'm very happy with this wine and love the fact that I was able to pick it up for under $30 at a local small wine shop (may have to pick up another bottle). If you see the 2016 Zinfandel out of Sonoma County by Mastro Scheidt Family Cellars on a shelf somewhere be sure and pick it up. It would make a great mid week drinker or it could even hold it's own at a wine party.

Updated 1: The bottle has been open for over 24 hours and it sat over night without a standard vacuum seal on it, just the twist cap. I'm happy to say that it held up well and is still enjoyable on the second day.
