How Did This Bottle Show Up: Liked the label so grabbed it at a local wine shop.
Color: A lighter red.
Thoughts:
This is one of those bottles that you pickup because the label is inviting and lets be honest, Reckless Love is a pretty catch name for a wine and when you get a chance, read the back label, it's a pretty fun story. After all, most of us have had a night or two where we think we fall madly in love with someone while enjoying some red juice.
This bottle is on the lower end of the wines that we'll explore during this series, but the aromas were pretty good, a little fruit and a little sugar. I didn't get the alcohol smell that you seem to get on lower price bottles. It coats the glass very well, but doesn't form well defined legs, indicative of the lower alcohol content of this wine. It seems to be a little on the lighter side but I'd still call it a light-medium bodied wine. Over all the aromas and the visual aspects of this wine were very inviting.
Starting off on the sip, it hits your tongue and dries it a little but it doesn't dry out the entire mouth like so many wines do. It's very smooth over the middle and the finish joins it. There is a small aftertaste and a little residual sugar that coats your mouth but nothing that's a show stopper. I would almost say that it compliments the finish and then dies off in the background.
Overall this was a pretty good bottle. When you take into consideration the price point, there's really no complaints. For me this is a mid-week drinker or a bottle that I would bring out a later into the evening. If your into red blends and don't wanna break the bank this is a decent choice.
