Alright, so many may not know this, but I'm a born and raised Texan, and proud of it. However, while I have tried some wines from Texas and not been super impressed, I kept hearing about all of these great wines coming from Texas. After all, it's a 2 billion dollar a year business.
Well, that all changed tonight with this little guy. It's a red blend from Duckman Winery in Texas. When I pulled the cork, there was very little wine on the cork itself. So yes, a very young wine. I took a wif from the bottle and got the sense that this wine was not what I was expecting.
I poured it into a glass and was shocked by how light it was. It reminded me of pinot, yet the aroma was way better. Finally I took a sip and was blown away.
This wine is a light to medium bodied wine, but it tastes like a pretty good medium bodied wine. The wine is smooth throughout with just a little bite at the end. There's not much of an after taste which I really enjoyed. It's still not as heavy of wine as most medium bodied wines but it is well worth it, especially considering the price.
If you like light to medium bodied wines that give the taste of a heavier wine and enjoy it being smooth with almost no bite, give this one a try.
