It Came from a Box

For the recorded, I was finishing up my travels for the New Year and I only had one day left. Didn’t feel like opening a bottle so while I was at the store, I picked up a small box of wine. YES, I did it, but let’s not judge until we taste it. Which I’m about to do so you don’t have to if things go south.

Right out of the box the aroma is interesting. I can’t put my finger on what it reminds me up, but it smells like wine, a 2016 Merlot to be exact.

It’s fairly smooth right off the bat. When it hits your tongue its a bit light, but it’s not long after that it really hits. It kind of lights your entire mouth up as it moves its way back. The finish is pretty decent, there’s not a lot of bite to it, but there is a bit of an aftertaste. It doesn’t hang around long, but it’s there.

Overall, this was an interesting experience. I’m glad I did it. While I wouldn’t pick this wine as my first choice, it was a good stop gap for one night to have a coupe of glasses of wine. If you like a lot of bite on your wine, then you may like this one. After all, it was only about 4 bucks and it equals roughly 3 glasses of wine.
