Trying to figure out what to drink, I found this little red blend from Lodi, CA sitting on the shelf. To be honest, I wasn’t even sure how it was going to turnout. I remember seeing it in a grocery store and thinking why not. I've had their Zin and it was pretty good so I picked it up and went home with it. I can’t lie, I’ve always been a fan of the label, a pretty simple silver and black logo.

I will admit I was surprised it was still good. I’ve moved and I don’t have a cooler big enough for all the bottles I have, so it’s a pick and chose what gets stored. When I pulled the corked one side of it was a pretty red, but the other side was the nature cork color. Success so far.

The aromas were pretty normal, it just smelled like a mid-priced red blend that you would get from the store. Nothing really stood out to me. When I took a little sip it was actually a pretty pleasant wine. Right off the bat it was pretty smooth, not a lot of bite to it. It’s pretty smooth all the way through, and after it finishes there is a small hint of spice, but nothing crazy. Be careful to not take a big gulp, if you do, you’ll most likely get a bit of an alcohol after taste. Nothing to bad, but it was noticeable.

At this point I’m sure you’re wondering what was actually in this blend. Zin, Cab, Petite Sirah, and some Merlot.  It’s a pretty interesting blend from Lodi. If you find a bottle I’d recommend that you enjoy either just watching a movie during the week, or as a second bottle. While it can hold its own, it’s not the first thing I would break out for dinner guests. But if you see it, give it a try.
