How Did This Bottle Show Up: Picked it up at a wine shop. Haven't had a Zin from Opolo in a while so wanted to give it a try.

Visually: Coats the glass extremely well, creates very slow moving legs that took a while to form, what you'd expect for a higher alcohol wine. Decently light red color for a Zin.

Aromas: Right off the bat you can small the fruit, a little dust and alcohol.

Thoughts:

This wine has taken me a little by surprise, not going to lie. From the original aromas I thought that it would dry my mouth out, but for the most part it didn't. There is a slight pucker factor but nothing that would make me not want to drink it. The body has a medium body to it, a nice surprise given that it is a fairly light wine visually for what I've seen in Zins..

When it first hits the tongue it does cause that feeling of, wakeup! if your tastes buds are asleep. As it moves back it shows a very smooth texture and just keeps on sliding. When it hits the back of the mouth there isn't much of a kick, just enough to let you know it was there and then it dissipates into a slight aftertaste which disappears after a few seconds. A big plus for this wine is that it does not leave a sugary feel to your mouth once it's done doing it's thing.

Overall I am very happy with this wine especially given it's price point. (I should have included this in the 8 part series of wines under $30.) This wine is an amazing mid week drinker, but this is one I could open for friends that are not big wine drinkers at a dinner party that I believe they would enjoy. If you see the Opolo Summit Creek Zinfandel out an about, pickup a bottle, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
